The 10th International Symposium on Hydraulic Structures (ISHS2024) is set to take place in ETH Zurich, Switzerland. Organized by the Laboratory of Hydraulics, Hydrology and Glaciology (VAW), the event will provide a unique opportunity to explore the world of hydraulic engineering. Established in 1930, VAW has been conducting pioneering research in the field for nearly a century.

Switzerland is renowned for its expertise in hydraulic engineering, boasting two renowned hydraulic laboratories in Lausanne and Zurich, as well as a plethora of international consultancy companies and a vast array of low-to-high head dams and hydropower plants, weirs, bypass tunnels, fishways, and other hydraulic structures. The symposium will also include a visit to the VAW laboratory and a one-day excursion to visit selected Swiss hydropower infrastructure.

ISHS2024 will explore a range of topics including regulation and flow conveyance structures, energy dissipaters, physical and numerical modelling, single and multi-phase flows, complex turbulent pressurized and open channel flows associated with hydraulic structures, advanced instrumentation for laboratory and field works, best practice solutions, fish passage, reservoir sedimentation and management, large wood and debris management, dam safety and risk management, and environmental and ecological impacts. As such, the event will provide a platform for exhibitors to showcase their latest innovations and research in this field.
